Lifetime Achievement Award

The NHCA Lifetime Achievement Award was established in 1999 in order to recognize the distinguished career of Don Gasaway.  Don was presented this award in 2000 at the Denver NHCA Conference.  This award was intended to recognize a lifetime of extraordinary accomplishments in the hearing loss prevention profession as well as in service to NHCA.  It allows NHCA to honor an individual who has made significant and lasting contributions to hearing conservation through a body of quality work.  These contributions, whether they have been in research, leadership, or mentorship, must have had a lasting impact on the hearing conservation field and the public and must have demonstrated a lifetime commitment to prevention of noise induced hearing loss.  In other words, recipients must have had a career of sustained extraordinary contributions both to our profession as well as to NHCA.  This is intended to be an award which is rarely bestowed. It was conceived of as our profession's means for recognizing and honoring those rare individuals who have made the extraordinary and sustained contributions both to our profession and to NHCA.

To learn more about the recipients and their specific contributions, NHCA members can access the Spectrum Conference Supplements. The Supplement corresponding to the year of the award will contain a photograph of the awardee and their encomium.
